Here's some interesting TRIVIA via Wikipedia :

The state of Rhode Island was one of the thirteen original colonies that helped to establish
the USA.
" On May 4, 1776, the Colony of Rhode Island was the first of the Thirteen Colonies to renounce its allegiance to the British Crown . "
" The state boycotted the 1787 convention which drew up the United States Constitution[12] and initially refused to ratify it;[13] it was the last of the original 13 states to do so on May 29, 1790. " [14][15]
Rhode Island , aka " The Ocean State ", has exemplified their unique history
on its official state flag . It bears thirteen gold stars , along with an anchor and the word " Hope ".

News story
" In 2013, the "Lots of Hope" program was established in the City of Providence to focus on increasing the city's green space and local food production, improve urban neighborhoods, promote healthy lifestyles and improve environmental sustainability. "Lots of Hope", supported by a $100,000 grant, will partner with the City of Providence, the Southside Community Land Trust and the Rhode Island Foundation to convert city-owned vacant lots into productive urban farms."
