 As you read the following definitions and thought provoking words ,
may God enable you to put good screening skills to work in your life ,
for every screen that you may encounter , and set the example for many

     In today's world , people of all ages - from tiny children to the elderly - have access
to various screens , be they on televisions , phones , computers or movie screens. With all
of these screens filling the nations , we need to consider what we are allowing those screens
to show us. We need to screen the content of what we choose to see , and what we allow
to continue to see that was brought to us without our consent. An example would be if
you chose a wholesome program to watch , but midway through the program a sponsor
or the network showed something that is quite contrary to the wholesomeness that you
chose to watch. You'll have to make a decision : " Do I continue to watch a nice program ,
knowing that poor quality commercials could appear ; or do I change what I see on the
screen ? " Making a choice to prefer wholesome content is screening what you see or hear.
If something is unexpectedly brought to your attention , you can do a deeper screening
and choose to "stay or go " based on that new information.  Remember to consider if others
will be affected by what you are seeing or hearing. You may need to put their needs and
wants ahead of your own , especially if there are age considerations. Choose wisely !!

One Day at a Time , this New Year ......... & every year .

Welcome to BIBLE PAGES !  😊
    Today is the next-to-the-last day of 2019 , and many are counting the hours
until the clocks and calendars show that a new year has begun. Whatever your
plans are for the New Year's celebration , or even if you have no plans in
particular , please keep in mind that there is only One God and He created
just one of you , so take good care of you !  :) 
    Typically , New Year's Eve has a bustling of  preparations , but one very
vital issue that must take precedence over all other preps and priorities is 
the topic of safety. Care enough about your well being , and those of 
others ,  to use good judgement at all times . Moderate all of your choices 
so that you and others can enter the new year with wellness . It's worth the
effort !
    Sadly , those who choose to live without good judgment frequently
cause misery for themselves and others.  Each new year , it's the
unfortunate truth that the misuse of firearms and substance abuse are 
too commonly found to be at the center of many mishaps and disasters.
    Some recklessly discharge their firearms for celebratory purposes , 
which is quite dangerous , and it most certainly does cause fatalities.  
Don't end a life with the pull a trigger , whether it is to celebrate a new year ; 
or to purposely end a life due to the frustrations , disappointments or 
hopelessness of this lifetime . 
                              Learn to take it " One day at a time ".
     Another issue regarding safety is drunkenness . Some statistics have 
shown that as much as a 71% increase in DUI incidents occur on 12-31 to 
01-01 , over the average daily rates for the year.  DUI means that a person 
was under the impairing influence of a drug [ legal or illegal ] and/or alcohol. 
These incidents can and should be avoided !  Every year , many lives and 
properties are terribly affected by the poor choices of many who misuse 
various substances . Don't be one of them !

MINDFULNESS , if you have never heard of it , is a mixture of religious
teachings that uses psychological practices in order to attain certain goals.
This mindfulness has gained popularity , but is it wise to be a mindful
meditator ?  Let's look at the details and then compare it to God's Word.

PSYCHOLOGICAL [ adjective ] is defined as :
of, affecting, or arising in the mind; related to the mental and emotional
state of a person.

MINDFULNESS  is defined as :
" a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the
present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting
one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations - ( it's )
used as a therapeutic technique."

 Through various online sites that define the term "mindfulness" ,
it can be summed up as a trained technique that focuses a person's
mind on their own thoughts , feelings , emotions , breathing , bodily
sensations and the environment that they are presently in , while
maintaining a mental focus on the present time - moment by moment  -
with calmness ;  and all the while they are to avoid any self-criticisms
or moral judging of any encountered thoughts or feelings.

    It is believed by some that with the proper and regular use
of mindfulness , that the attainment of self-knowledge ( self-realization ),
wisdom and calmness can be achieved  ; while further advancements may
obtain a purging of any unwanted emotions and desires that leads to a
so-called state of liberation. This liberation can also be known by the
familiar terms  of enlightenment or awakening .
.
    Various religions - especially of the Asian and Indian influences -
use similar techniques , but Buddhism maintains that morals
are a necessary precursor to any mindfulness or meditation.
With mindfulness being centered on one's mind , body , emotions ,
time and environment , it is interesting to note Buddhism's ideology
called "non-self " , which believes that there's " no unchanging ,
permanent self or soul , nor essence in living beings ". (wiki definition)

     Over the years , in an effort to deal with society's increasing levels
of stress and the effects thereof , there has been an increased acceptance
of mindfulness training in schools ( public & private ), hospitals , prisons ,
veterans centers , big corporations and more. Students of all ages ,
educators , employees , patients and more are receiving this religious
training , with some obtaining it through federal grant monies. Though
some believe there is statistical data showing marked improvements with
mindfulness meditators , others have found only negligible results.

Two things that CANNOT be denied about any mindfulness meditating :
#1. It is a religiously based practice that is centered on the human mind.
#2. It does NOT acknowledge the God of the Bible - not one iota .

Those who truly want to find Knowledge and Wisdom will leave these above
mentioned practices out of your lives , and follow the pure ways of the God
of the Bible. His eternal Spirit will guide your spirit with His written Word ,
and that will be your guide in this lifetime . Look closely at Romans 8 : 5 ,
for it has all of the answers for this lesson , and for you.
